Protection Dog Training Program

Patrick, owner of Ultimate K9, has developed a unique, one-of-a-kind dog training program. Our training program teaches specific dogs how to be both compassionate, loving family members as well as precise, effective tools to protect yourself and/or your family and property.

Patrick is THE ONLY trainer who employs these types of enhanced training techniques that are required so that you will have a well trained pet as well as a trained guard dog. Patrick is the only professional dog trainer that uses the dogs as the testament to the training, as Action - Not Words – is truly what matters from a personal protector.

Patrick’s Street Training Method employs real-life situations that are experienced in the
real world. This gives the dogs the best opportunity to react in the most appropriate way to
any situation.

Our Dog Training Components

What Is The Drive?

There are three main components in the Street Training for Protection Dogs: Fight Drive, Prey Drive and Defense Drive. Unlike a lot of the dogs trained for personal, estate, and family protection, Patrick only trains dogs who have high fight and prey drive along with some defense. The following is a more in-depth explanation of what each is:

Fight Drive

The Fight Drive is what you see after a dog connects with its prey. The fight is the intense head cranking and the body twisting and jerking you see when a guard dog is bringing down the aggressor. This drive is a devastating force which keeps the dog in the fight under extreme circumstances.

Prey Drive

This drive is the natural instinct a dog has that manifests itself as searching, pointing, tracking, pouncing, chasing, or stalking. These actions constitute what a wild dog would perform during a typical day, in order to capture prey and eat. Dogs with a lot of prey drive can be taught a greater number of functions with fewer repetitions and still maintain a great attitude.

Defense Drive

Defense drive is the protection instinct in the dog to defend his pack or owner, etc. It brings out the suspicion level and alertness a dog has to their surroundings, and combined with prey and fight drive, constitutes a well rounded dog. It is imperative to note that all of Ultimate K9’s dogs are trained both as protectors AND as obedient companions. A strict fighting machine doesn’t do any good for families, women and / or children. An obedient, stable temperament is required of all dogs trained by Ultimate K9.

By the end of Ultimate K9’s training, all dogs will have developed a supreme level of intensity in all three drives. They are trained to battle and work against many different scenario’s, environments, and surface types. Surface types used in training are leather coats, nylon coats, hidden sleeves, body bite suits, sweaters, and hidden body bite suits. The professionally trained protection dogs also work against many different types of weaponry, including various caliber pistols [to acclimate the dogs with the noise they may encounter], knives, bamboo sticks, tree branches, etc. The results achieved through the training are all attained at Ultimate K9’s State of the Art Training Facility, as seen in our Dog Training Family Protection Video and Training Photographs.
